Leon H. Sullivan Foundation
About The Foundation

Advocacy

In order to preserve the legacy of Rev. Sullivan, the Foundation engages in public and government advocacy in support of the domestic and international issues that were important to him and on behalf of the organizations he created.  Although the issues range from housing and equal employment rights in the Unite States to a system of fair international trade for Africa, like the Reverend, the Foundation has one bottom line objective: to give a voice to those who are locally, nationally or internationally marginalized.

Sullivan - Young Africa Partnership Fund Consortium

Leon Sullivan envisioned a bridge between Africa and America through which people of African descent could travel as brothers.  He and Andrew Young dedicated their respective careers to mobilizing Africans, African Americans and friends of Africa to support each other culturally, politically and economically.  Now, many practical bridges between Africans and Americans have been built in pursuit of that same vision by a diverse group of non-governmental organizations that harness the commitment of African Americans toward Africa.  Their practical work ranges from building schools and working with farmers in rural areas, to assisting in the drafting of domestic violence bills in Africa.  Collectively these organizations fulfil a vision of cooperation between African Americans and Africans, stretching the bridge across the Atlantic.  The Sullivan- Young Africa Partnership Fund Consortium was created in 2005 to advanced that collective visions and provide support for each organization.
