Advocacy
In order to preserve the legacy of Rev. Sullivan, the Foundation engages in public and government advocacy in support of the domestic and international issues that were important to him and on behalf of the organizations he created. Although the issues range from housing and equal employment rights in the Unite States to a system of fair international trade for Africa, like the Reverend, the Foundation has one bottom line objective: to give a voice to those who are locally, nationally or internationally marginalized.

Africa’s Development
Africa was a passion to Rev. Sullivan. He viewed it as a continent of great opportunities with tremendous potential to overcome the daunting problems that plagued it. He also believed that people of African descent living around the world were all responsible to each other and to Africa. On many occasions, the Reverend argued that the African Diaspora and Friends of Africa should have a hand in supporting Africa’s development.
Today the Foundation carries on this legacy by working with the African Union and NEPAD, and organizations that represent the Diaspora and Friends of Africa to help to build Africa’s economic and social capacity by promoting:
- a fair system of international trade;
- increased investment in Africa’s agricultural productivity;
- the development of an indigenous private sector in Africa and international investment in Africa’s private institutions;
- increased investment in health, education, science and technology in Africa.
