Reputation
- The legacy of the Global Sullivan Principles (GSP) spans nearly 30 years. In 1977, Reverend Leon Sullivan first articulated the Sullivan Principles that helped erode discrimination and inequality in the workplace in South Africa. The GSP, an outgrowth of its predecessor, came about after many requests from leaders around the world that Reverend Sullivan create a new global framework for Corporate Social Responsibility.
- A commitment to GSP enhances your corporation’s reputation among your customers, employees, and the communities in which you operate. The GSP was one of the original corporate social responsibility initiatives and is built on a legacy of partnership between the public and private sectors. Companies aligning themselves with the GSP send a strong, credible signal that they are committed to making a positive difference in the communities and countries where they operate through their corporate responsibility performance.
- Names of endorsing organizations
are placed on the Endorser List, which
is updated frequently, published on the
GSP Web site and distributed widely to
potential endorsers and other interested
parties. To further support a company's
participation, Endorsers can display
the Global Sullivan Principles Endorser
Seal on their Web site, letterhead and
other documents.
Transparency
- Case Studies of best practices in the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility will be
made available on the GSP Web site. This
transparent approach allow endorsers to
share their efforts and commitment to
the Principles, both with each other,
and with the public. An annual compilation
of "best practices" from
endorsers' reports will also be
published on the Web site and distributed
to all endorsers and other interested
parties.
Networking
- The Leon H. Sullivan Foundation, on an annual basis, will provide endorsers with opportunities to meet and share expriences in the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility. These meetings provide organizations with a forum to share the experiences and benefits of implementing the Principles, and to network with other endorsers from all types and sizes of industries. Endorsers will also be invited to participate in related activities at the Biennial Leon H. Sullivan Summit.
Information Sharing
- Visions, the newsmagazine of
the Leon H. Sullivan Foundation, will
include updates to keep endorsers and
others apprised of the developments,
events and activities of the Global Sullivan
Principles. In addition to being listed
as a GSP endorser in Visions, endorsers
will also be listed on the GSP Web site
(along with a link to your organization’s
Web site) and in Sullivan Summit program
materials.
